Bart A. Fisher began his career as a patent attorney after working in industry as an engineer designing control systems for pneumatic conveying equipment and heating and cooling appliances for recreational vehicles. Bart also developed composite material processes in the aerospace industry. His industry experience comes from companies such as MAC Equipment, RVP (a former division of the Coleman Company) and Boeing. Bart's educational background includes a degree in electrical engineering from Kansas State University, a master's degree in management from Friends University, and a law degree, with Dean's honors from Washburn University School of Law. Bart's intellectual property experience relates to all areas of electrical and mechanical patents, including computer systems, semiconductors, appliances, lighting systems, business methods and more.

Registering Trade Names and Trademarks on Facebook
Last June the Facebook online networking site announced that users, both individuals with profiles and Facebook page administrators for businesses with a fan page, could register personalized usernames as their universal resource locator (URL), or Facebook website address, beginning June 13, 2009. Users quickly snatched up millions of unique name registrations.

Meet the New Director of the USPTO
The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has a new leader at the helm. On August 13, 2009, David Kappos was sworn in as the new director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (“USPTO”). Director Kappos was nominated by President Obama to replace John Doll, who had been the Acting Director since the resignation of Jon Dudas in January 2009.
