Jade O. Laye

Jade Laye is an associate in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the Houston office of Haynes and Boone, LLP. A registered patent attorney, he focuses his practice on intellectual property law, with an emphasis on domestic and international patent prosecution and counseling. His experience also includes litigation support, reexamination proceedings, patent opinion work, and preparing IP agreements.

Jade has experience with a wide range of technologies, including electrical and mechanical oil field equipment, optical computing devices, downhole logging tools, computer software, semiconductors, e-commerce, and telecommunications.

Jade is a former Patent Examiner with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in its telecommunications division. While at the USPTO, his technical focus was in the area of video and data distribution systems, networks, and related technology, such as video recording devices, modems and hand-held communications devices.

Jade has handled various pro bono matters, including Big Hart Ministries Assoc. Inc., et al. v. City of Dallas. He served as counsel for Big Hart Ministries before the Northern District of Texas in this case involving various issues of constitutional and state law.

Jade is also a member of Haynes and Boone's Attorney Diversity Committee, where he focuses on advancing the hiring, retention and promotion of diverse lawyers within the firm.

In addition to his law degrees, Jade holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
