Rick Martin has more than 30 years experience assisting a broad range of clients involved in complex real estate transactions.  He has represented pension systems, pension advisors, developers, REITS, private funds, and individual investors in office, industrial, hospitality and multi-family acquisitions and dispositions, and multi-family, industrial, office and lot developers. Recently Rick has had a particular focus on restructuring of indebtedness, modification and restructuring of investment ventures and acquisition of distressed indebtedness. He has completed transactions including:

  • Representation of an institutional investor in connection with the development of industrial facilities in the DFW area.

  • Representation of a national developer in connection with a hotel and condominium development in the DFW area.

  • Representation of a pension system in connection with the acquisition of an industrial portfolio in the DFW area.

  • Representation of a governmental pension system in connection with the formation of a development and investment partnership with a public REIT and acquisition of a national retail portfolio in New Jersey, Ohio, Indiana and Florida.

  • Representation of a private fund in connection with the acquisition of  a Office Development in the DFW Area.

  • Representation of a developer in connection with the formation of an investment partnership involving an industrial portfolio in California, Texas, Mississippi and Pennsylvania.

Development and Leasing of Multi-Use Community
Development and leasing of Victory Park, a new 75-acre office, hotel, retail and residential community in downtown Dallas, adjacent to the American Airlines Center.

Formation of Development and Investment Partnership - State Board Administration of the State of Florida
Represented the board of the State Board Administration of the State of Florida in the formation of a development and investment partnership with a publicly-traded REIT for the acquisition by contribution and purchase of a portfolio of regional shopping centers in four states.

Kennedy Associates Real Estate Counsel in Lease And Asset Disposition
Represented Kennedy Associates Real Estate Counsel, LLP, in the disposition of numerous office and industrial properties totaling more than $300 million in Texas and North Carolina. Also represented Kennedy in negotiating ground leases with DFW Airport and development of a two million square foot industrial complex.
