American Lawyer Ranks Haynes and Boone Tops in Texas Diversity
Haynes and Boone, LLP has received the highest ranking of any Texas-based law firm in American Lawyer’s annual ALM Diversity Scorecard.
The law firm ranked No. 63 out of the 233 firms surveyed nationwide, achieving an overall diversity score of 24.1. Each firm’s score was calculated by adding the percentage of minority lawyers in its U.S. offices to the percentage of minority partners in the United States. Lawyer counts are average full-time-equivalent figures for 2011.
Using that methodology, Haynes and Boone’s 481 domestic attorneys are 13.6 percent minority and 10.5 percent minority partners. Overall, the ALM survey showed 13.6 percent of lawyers at the nation's largest firms in 2011 were minority lawyers, compared to 13.9 percent in 2010.
“We take great pride when our hard work on diversity gets such positive public feedback,” said Terry Conner,
managing partner. "We are truly committed to creating an inclusive workplace, and these kinds of results will spur us on to do even better next year.”
Added Felicity Fowler
, chair of the Haynes and Boone Attorney Diversity Committee: “Rankings like this give us insight into the effectiveness of the many programs and initiatives we’ve developed over the years to increase our diversity. To rank above all other Texas law firms is extremely gratifying.”
The ALM Scorecard ranking comes on the heels of the firm’s rating earlier this year by MultiCultural Law Magazine as the top law firm in the country for women.
Haynes and Boone is regularly recognized for its ongoing commitment to promoting diversity and opportunity within the firm. Vault.com recently cited the firm as a top 100 law firm for diversity with regard to women and minorities in its 2011 rankings.
