Haynes and Boone’s Rafael Anchia Honored by Latino Leaders
DALLAS – Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner Rafael Anchia has been named the 2010 recipient of Latino Leaders Maestro Award for Leadership.
Mr. Anchia was selected in recognition of his personal and professional achievements and his tireless commitment to the advancement of American Latinos in his community and beyond.
Latino Leaders Magazine is considered a premier magazine among influential and important Latinos across the country. Mr. Anchia accepted the publication’s highest honor in front of more than 200 national leaders at the Latino Leaders Maestro Award for Leadership Gala on Oct. 28.
Mr. Anchia is a Texas State Representative for District 103, which includes parts of Dallas, Irving, Carrollton and Farmers Branch. Texas Monthly named him "Rookie of the Year" during the 79th Legislative Session and one of the "10 Best Legislators" during the 80th Legislative Session. He currently is vice-chair of the Pensions, Investments and Financial Services Committee and serves on the Texas Sunset Advisory Commission, the powerful 12-member panel that advises the legislature whether state agencies should be continued or phased out.
He began his community service representing District 7 on the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees from 2001-2004, overseeing a $1 billion budget, 19,000 employees and about 220 schools in the nation's 12th largest school district.
In his practice at Haynes and Boone, Mr. Anchia represents financial institutions and public and private funds in a variety of transactions involving, among other things, senior and subordinated debt and equity, domestic and international syndications, and distressed debt acquisitions and sales.
