Jewish Group in Dallas to Honor State Rep. Rafael Anchía

09/08/2009

The Dallas chapter of the American Jewish Committee, the nation's oldest human relations organization, will present state Rep. Rafael Anchía with its 2009 Institute of Human Relations Award at a luncheon Monday at the Fairmont Dallas.

The AJC's goal is to make bigotry in any form unacceptable by promoting pluralism, intergroup relations and mutual understanding through education, research and training.

The award recognizes a civic or business leader who has demonstrated exceptional work in preserving America's democratic heritage.

Maddy Unterberg, Dallas AJC president, said, "Representative Anchía embodies the spirit of the Institute of Human Relations Award because of his passion for his community and its people, and his empathy for their struggles and aspirations."
