Reddy Ice Corp. Sues In Store Bagging Machine in Patent Spat

Dallas-based Reddy Ice claims that Irving-based In Store has infringed on a Reddy Ice patent covering an ice bagging device, according to court records in federal district court in Dallas.

The patent covers a Reddy Ice product called The Ice Factory, an in-store bagging machine that lets the company's customers manufacture, bag and display ice at the clients' locations, court records say.

Among other things, Reddy Ice is seeking a court judgment barring In Store from infringing on the patent, and damages of an unspecified amount, records say.

"Reddy Ice is a long-time innovator in the ice industry and has patents protecting various features of in-store ice bagging machines," said Phillip Philbin of Haynes and Boone LLP, who is representing Reddy Ice. "Reddy Ice values its intellectual property and will vigorously protect those patent rights."
