Eduardo Aguirre in Latin Lawyer: Haynes and Boone Hires Former US Ex-Im Vice-Chairman

Eduardo Aguirre joined the firm on 14 January as a non-legal senior adviser in Houston, where he will also assist with inbound investment, banking and finance, energy and immigration matters.

His previous roles include serving as vice chairman and chief operating officer of the Export-Import Bank of the US and as the US ambassador to Spain. He has also worked as director of the US immigration services, where he regularly interacted with Latin American government officials.

Aguirre, who is not a lawyer, worked in the banking industry for 34 years, during which time he occupied a range of roles both in commercial and private banking, interacting with international clients as well as developing his skills in country risk evaluation. He has previously worked as president of the global division of the Bank of America’s international private bank.
