Geoffrey T. Raicht in Law360 - Haynes And Boone Adds Bankruptcy Vet

August 15, 2016
Haynes and Boone LLP on Tuesday said that it had added a ‎former Proskauer Rose LLP partner whose background includes counseling debtors in cross-border proceedings, foreign court-appointed liquidators and administrators of insolvent funds and corporates.

Haynes and Boone said in its Tuesday statement that Geoffrey Raicht is a Chapter 15 thought leader who has authored numerous articles on the subject.

His Chapter 15 experience includes handling the New York filing for a failed Cayman Islands bank, a North Sea-based shipping firm with London headquarters, a U.K. insurance company in solvent runoff and the asset manager of Bear Stearns’ feeder funds in their Chapter 15 cases in 2005, according to Haynes and Boone.

"Geoff is a wonderful complement to our talented and burgeoning New York bankruptcy group," said Ian Peck, chair of the firm's bankruptcy and reorganization section. "With our new London office, our established presence in Shanghai and our growing footprint in Latin America, his cross-border insolvency experience is certain to be in demand. We are very proud and fortunate that he chose our firm to launch the next stage of his impressive career."

Haynes and Boone said that Raicht has spent 17 years creating a practice involving companies and their boards of directors seeking to navigate a distressed situation, hedge funds or private equity funds looking either to make a strategic investment or maximize their recovery or foreign court-appointed officers seeking ancillary relief from U.S. courts, and they have all sought his advice on restructuring matters.

Peck added that he expects Raicht to be a leader of the firm's New York bankruptcy team.
