Haynes and Boone Receives ‘Community of Respect’ Designation for Commitment to Respect and Diversity
DALLAS – Haynes and Boone, LLP has been designated as a Community of Respect® by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) for its commitment to respect and diversity.
"Haynes and Boone is honored to be recognized for participating in the ADL's Community of Respect® Initiative," said Mark Trachtenberg, hiring partner for the firm’s Houston office. "The firm shares the ADL's strong commitment to promoting diversity and respect in the workplace and has long been a pioneer in this regard. We have tried to emphasize a culture that promotes respect and inclusion, so it is wonderful that an outside organization validates our continued efforts.”
ADL's Community of Respect® Initiative asks that companies, houses of worship and organizations sign a ‘Resolution of Respect’ and implement three or more anti-bias activities that demonstrate a commitment to respect and diversity.
To earn the Community of Respect® designation in 2011, Haynes and Boone taught economically disadvantaged youth, many of them minorities, about the world of corporate finance; created a summer clerkship for a first-year minority law student; and mentored middle school students. In addition, the firm maintains ongoing efforts to attract minority attorney candidates under its minority attorney initiatives, women attorney initiatives, the LGBT Committee and the Minority Scholars Program.
The award was presented to Partners Mark Trachtenberg and Felicity Fowler, who chairs the firm’s Diversity Committee, at a Dec. 1 reception.
Haynes and Boone’s Attorney Diversity Committee is comprised of 60 attorneys and key members of management who advocate the importance and necessity of a diverse law firm. This is a reflection of firm leadership’s insistence on the inclusion of diverse lawyers into firm governance as practice group leaders, committee leaders and holders of key management roles.
