If it seems like your air conditioner has been running full power, you are not alone. A state council says Texans used a record amount of electricity during Wednesday afternoon’s heat.
So can the Texas power grid handle the heat? Energy efficiency expert Paul Dickerson says “yes.”
“Texas can handle it. As you know, the power companies will bring on extra powers to handle the summer months,” Dickerson told FOX 26 News. “Smart grids allow the utility company to communicate directly with appliances, to allow consumers to see in real-time to see what they are paying for their utilities to see if they need to cycle down their A/C at certain times of day.”
