Chambers Latin America Expands Recognition of Haynes and Boone
DALLAS/MEXICO CITY – For the second consecutive year, Haynes and Boone lawyers and practices have been lauded by Chambers Latin America for high-end corporate and financial work throughout Latin America and Mexico.
Haynes and Boone maintained its status as the only Texas-based firm to be ranked in the Latin America-wide corporate/M&A category.
The prestigious legal guide noted the firm’s multidisciplinary approach. “This Texan firm has a respected and increasingly visible outpost in Mexico City, where 17 lawyers are engaged in corporate/M&A, often in close collaboration with colleagues in other offices, particularly Dallas,” Chambers researchers said.
Larry B. Pascal, a Dallas-based partner and head of the firm’s Americas Practice Group, was singled out for mention in the Latin America-wide corporate/M&A category.
“We continue to build a strong presence throughout Latin America and it is great to see that progress recognized by Chambers and our clients,” Mr. Pascal said. “Our Texas headquarters, international reach and multidisciplinary approach ensure we are well positioned to help clients maximize opportunities in the region.”
In Mexico, Partner Antonio Franck was recommended for his work in capital markets and corporate/M&A and Partner Luis Moreno was recommended in real estate. Of Counsel Edgar Anaya debuted as an “up and comer” in the tax field.
Chambers researchers also recognized Haynes and Boone’s Mexico corporate/M&A practice. Researchers cited energy work as a particular strength for the team, in addition to general corporate matters and restructurings. Sources cited the firm’s bilingual capabilities and keen understanding of the region.
The firm’s Mexico City-based capital markets practice entered the rankings this year as well, highlighting Antonio Franck in particular.
Haynes and Boone’s Mexico Real Estate Practice Group also made its first appearance in the rankings. The guide highlighted the firm’s international client base that includes numerous large foreign private funds active in the region. Mr. Moreno was called “highly respected as ‘someone who understands the Mexican culture and business approach and the U.S. way too, so he can bridge the gap.’"
Chambers Latin America ranks law firms and attorneys based on in-depth interviews conducted with sector peers and firm clients. Ratings are based on legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial awareness, diligence, and commitment to the client. More than 40 researchers spent six months spanning Latin America to prepare the 2010 version of this respected directory.
The Haynes and Boone Latin American practice has been recognized as one of the leaders in Latin America by numerous business organizations and publications, including Latin Lawyer and Chambers USA. The firm has lawyers licensed in Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Spain, and Peru working in its offices.
