Haynes and Boone Hosts Ceremony for Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge Unveiling
Haynes and Boone, LLP attorneys recently hosted the Trinity Trust for the unveiling of the $117 million Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. The 400-foot arch received its final 150-ton segment on Saturday.
The Santiago Calatrava-designed bridge – visible from Haynes and Boone’s main floor - is one of the first significant signs of progress in the $2 billion Trinity River project. Contributions from Margaret Hunt Hill and her family were instrumental in the bridge's completion.
Friends of Haynes and Boone partners Mike Boone and George Bramblett and members of the Hill family were among those in attendance. The Trinity Trust honored the family with a champagne toast in front of Dallas civil servants and philanthropists, including Mayor Tom Leppert, U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and Dist. Atty. Attorney Craig Watkins.
Trinity Trust Foundation President and CEO Gail Thomas said the arch provides a visible sign that Dallas is a 21st century city unafraid to take on one of the most ambitious public works projects in the nation. The bridge is scheduled to open in 2011 and will connect Singleton Boulevard to Woodall Rodgers Freeway.
The Trinity Trust Foundation helped the city by raising private funds for the $2.2 billion civic project. In addition to the Margaret Hunt Hill bridge, donations raised from the private sector will be used to fund amenities including lakes, a central island, a white water course, amphitheaters and sports fields.
