Sub-Saharan Africa and Texas: Hot and Getting Hotter for Oil & Gas

January 16, 2014

Haynes and Boone, LLP and Lawrence Graham LLP presented a joint webinar entitled Sub-Saharan Africa and Texas: Hot and Getting Hotter for Oil & Gas.

According to Bloomberg's July 31, 2013 Mergers & Acquisitions League Table, Texas has seen more than $75 billion of upstream oil and gas deals in 2013. There is no doubt that Texas is hot, whether or not it is summer. Sub-Saharan Africa is also demonstrating strong growth in the sector, having become one of the hottest regions in the world for upstream oil and gas development, with over $10 billion in mergers and acquisitions during the first half of 2013. For both Texas and Sub-Saharan Africa, this deal-making is not limited to the current year; upstream deal volumes have been generally increasing for at least the last seven years.

Haynes and Boone and Lawrence Graham both have a wealth of experience in advising clients on a wide range of legal issues relating to the oil and gas sectors, including advising on investing in upstream oil and gas projects in Sub-Saharan Africa, advising on the disposal of assets and negotiating commercial agreements such as off-take arrangements and production sharing agreements. The firms can assist clients in getting down to business in Sub-Saharan Africa.
