Intellectual Property

Protecting your innovations protects your business, too.

Intellectual property is a vital asset to your business, maybe even your only asset. The IP lawyers at Haynes and Boone have helped protect and secure thousands of inventions and innovations for our clients, including entrepreneurs and middle-market businesses alike, as well as some of the world’s largest companies such as Google, Cisco, eBay, AT&T and Halliburton.

Every day, in the United States and abroad, we help our clients protect, enforce, defend and monetize their innovations, managing very large and sophisticated intellectual property portfolios, as well as complex and extremely technical patent applications. More than half of our patent lawyers have worked as engineers, programmers or technical salespeople, with many also serving as in-house counsel for leading technology companies and as patent examiners at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. In fact, we’ve filed more than 11,000 patent applications in the United States and abroad in the past five years.

With extensive experience in virtually every aspect of IP, we serve clients primarily in the areas of:

  • Patents, including prosecution and counseling
  • Post-Grant Proceedings, including inter partes Review
  • IP litigation
  • Trademarks, including Internet domain protection
  • Copyrights
  • Technology transactions
  • IP portfolio management

We achieve successful results for our clients with an approach that is both practical and business-oriented, often grounded in our advanced technical knowledge. Our culture promotes teamwork, ensuring we match our clients’ needs to the best people to do their work.
