12/16/2008

HOUSTON – Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner Patricia Casey of the firm’s Houston office has been licensed as a practicing solicitor in England and Wales.

As a member of the Law Society of England and Wales, Ms. Casey can further assist clients in international matters, including arbitration and dispute resolution.

"As our clients continue to become more and more global, so must we as lawyers,” said Ken Broughton, the Houston administrative partner. “By expanding her reach as a legal practitioner, Pat has positioned herself as an even more valuable asset to her clients and to the firm’s litigation practice as a whole."

Ms. Casey earned the overseas license after completing a series of applications and examinations through the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), the independent regulatory body of the Law Society of England and Wales that regulates solicitors in the two countries.

In her practice, Ms. Casey is an experienced litigator focusing on complex litigation, international arbitration proceedings and investigations. She regularly assists clients in all areas of business litigation including breach of contract, insurance coverage, shareholder derivative suits, trade secrets, and regulatory investigations.

Ms. Casey currently serves as president of the Association of Women Attorneys, a Houston professional organization founded in 1976 to promote and support opportunities for women attorneys and broaden and strengthen their role in the legal community.
