Jan Sharry in Fort Worth Star-Telegram: AMR's CFO traveled half the world to find her American Dream
Isabella Goren has achieved her American Dream by reaching one of the highest executive positions at American Airlines: chief financial officer.
Her journey started in the 1970s when she emigrated from Ukraine as a teenager. For the past 25 years, she has worked her way up the executive ladder at the Fort Worth-based carrier, starting as a financial analyst, overseeing marketing and briefing shareholders as the head of investor relations for AMR Corp., American's parent company.
Now Goren, who became CFO in 2010, is at the center of the airline's effort to return to profitability as bankruptcy rumors continue to dog the company...
Jan Sharry, a partner in Haynes and Boone's corporate securities group, said Goren's practical and decisive nature has aided her.
"She has stepped into a very difficult position, had to deal with some tough analyst calls and had to deal with some hard times and has done an absolutely great job," said Sharry, who worked with Goren on several projects at American.
