Firm Attorneys Featured in Global Arbitration Review: Albania faces injunction over oil blocks
UPDATED: A Texas court has enjoined Albania from advertising oil blocks in the country to potential contractors until it has engaged in UNCITRAL investment treaty arbitration with a US oil and gas company that claims it already has rights to the blocks.
The US District Court for the Western District of Texas ordered the state’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Energy and National Agency of Natural Resources to refrain from awarding, transferring or disposing of any rights to the contested oil blocks until a final award has been issued in the arbitration commenced by the US’s Sky Petroleum in December.
It also ordered that they should remove all references to the blocks being "free" on their websites and other public documents...
Counsel to Sky Petroleum: Haynes and Boone - Partner Shashe Dimitroff in Houston with Partner Hal Sanders and associates Leslie Thorne and Adam Hugh Sencenbaugh in Austin.
