Many technology companies entered 2012 facing a growing economy and more money in the bank. Now Texas attorneys who specialize in mergers, intellectual property and corporate governance are seeing growing demand for their services.
"In 2012, we have a lot of deals in the shop," said Tom Harris, a partner at Haynes and Boone, LLP in Dallas.
During the recession, companies of all types sat idle — even those in a relatively good financial position. Now that there's optimism, many of those companies are grabbing market share by gobbling up competitors or complementary businesses that haven't fared so well...
"There is resurgence on the law side, but it has been a slow recovery. That said, this is Texas and we rebounded faster than everybody else," said Terry Conner, a partner in Haynes and Boone's Dallas office who handles transactions for technology companies. "Mergers and acquisitions work is strong. Intellectual property is brisk."
