Haynes and Boone Recognized in Chambers Global 2012 Rankings
Haynes and Boone, LLP has maintained key Chambers Global 2012 rankings across three of the firm’s geographic bases including the United States, Mexico and Latin America. In addition, the firm received several new individual attorney rankings.
In addition to receiving honors for its international Franchise and Distribution and U.S.-based Bankruptcy and Business Restructuring practices, Haynes and Boone was recognized for its Latin America-wide and Mexico Corporate/M&A practices.
The firm’s Franchise and Distribution Practice received a Band 2 ranking. Practice Chair Joyce Mazero maintained a Band 2 ranking because “she gets to the root of matters quickly and resolves things before they escalate.” In addition, Robert Lauer received a Band 3 ranking as he handles a considerable number of the team’s Mexico-related franchise transactions.
In the U.S., Haynes and Boone’s Bankruptcy and Business Restructuring Practice Group received a Band 4 ranking. Robert Albergotti, a veteran partner and one of the sector’s leading authorities, landed in Band 1 and is considered “one of the intellectuals of the industry” and “extremely pragmatic and commercially oriented” in his representations. Partner Robin Phelan maintained a Band 2 ranking with clients noting he’s “vigorous in representing [their] interests.” Charles Beckham, Jr. was ranked for the first time, landing in Band 4. He is “highly respected and experienced” and recommended for his deep expertise in representing secured lenders and secured lender groups.
The Latin America-wide Corporate/M&A practice moved up one level to Band 4 for its strong presence in Mexico and deep knowledge of local markets and good relationships with local firms. A source said “I have found the team to be responsive, insightful and good value for money.” Larry Pascal, co-chair of the International Practice Group, was singled out as “an excellent lawyer who pays great attention to detail.” He was also named a regional expert for his work in the U.S.-based Corporate/M&A practice, as well as for his experience in Colombia.
In Mexico, the Corporate/M&A practice maintained a Band 4 ranking. Partner Antonio Franck received a Band 3 Ranking for his considerable experience advising on a wide range of corporate and M&A matters. In addition, Partner Alberto de la Peña was placed in Band 4. In Mexico Banking & Finance, Jorge Labastida received a Band 2 ranking and Antonio Franck a Band 3.
Partner Jeff Becker of the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice was ranked for the first time and landed in Band 3. In addition, Partner Sergei Lomako received his first ranking as Band 4 in Russia Corporate/M&A. He was also named an “Expert Based Abroad” for his work in Energy & National Resources and Corporate/M&A in Russia, as well as for General Business Law in Turkmenistan and Dispute Resolution in Ukraine. Additionally, he was named a “Foreign Expert” in USA Corporate M&A and Energy & National Resources.
