Nicolas Gikkas is Of Counsel in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the Silicon Valley office of Haynes and Boone. His legal practice focuses on patent litigation, strategic IP counseling, licensing and patent prosecution.

Nicolas has successfully represented numerous clients in intellectual property matters, both as in-house corporate counsel and in private practice. Prior to joining Haynes and Boone, he worked as in-house corporate counsel for over seven years, holding the positions of Director of IP Litigation for Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. and Chief IP Counsel for SiRF Technology, Inc. While practicing as in-house counsel, Nicolas was responsible for providing strategic advice and counsel to corporate officers and directors on numerous IP issues, including patent portfolio management and enforcement, licensing of patents and technology, acquisition of third party patents, and multi-defendant patent litigations. Nicolas understands the needs of his clients, whether they are small start-ups or Fortune 500 companies.

Prior to SiRF and Marvell, Nicolas was in private practice at several law firms located in Silicon Valley, where he represented and advised many high technology clients in patent litigation and patent prosecution matters.

Before becoming a lawyer, Nicolas spent ten years practicing as an electrical engineer, primarily in the field of advanced radar systems for a major aerospace contractor, where he was responsible for the research and development of new weapon systems for the U.S. Department of Defense.
