Jorge Torres Martinez is counsel in the Litigation practice group in the Mexico City office of Haynes and Boone. His practice focuses on workouts and bankruptcy advice, administrative, civil, commercial, constitutional litigation and arbitration, as well as complex civil and mercantile litigation, including controversies related with telecommunications, ports, railroads, product liability and damages.

Selected Client Representations

  • Advised a State Entity, as coordinator of a legal service contract for the representation in more than 1000 administrative and civil procedures. Assisted entity in litigation procedures filed at the Federal Administrative and Tax Tribunal, including drafting of lawsuits, appeals, preparation of evidence and constitutional appeals regarding several matters such as transport, ports, telecommunications and railroads.
  • Represented a global leader company in power solutions for marine and energy markets, in a commercial proceeding against one of the biggest navy companies in Mexico due to the breach of a supply agreement.
  • Represented a telecommunications company in a commercial proceeding filed by a long distance carrier claiming damages for the non-compliance of an administrative ruling issued by the Federal Telecommunications Commission, regarding the proportional distribution of international long distance income call intends to other carriers.
  • Advised a national leading cable television company in the negotiation of a product liability claim, regarding manufacturing defects of digital boxes.
  • Represented a world leading company in agriculture and pesticide products in a legal proceeding filed by a rural community regarding a product liability and environmental claim.
  • Represented a transnational cinema and entertainment company, in a legal proceeding regarding a multimillionaire moral damage claim, for the use without consent of the Plaintiff for the use of his image, name and voice in a documentary exhibited in the company’s complexes.
  • Represented a State Authority in a legal proceeding regarding a damages claim filed by a port concessionaire for the non-compliance of the port operation rules.
  • Represented a leading company in tire manufacture, in several legal proceedings regarding supply agreement breach and collection of debt.
