Haynes and Boone Presents "From Product Developer to Intrapreneur to Entrepreneur"

November 5 event to focus on developing international award-winning new technology for non-invasive surgery

RICHARDSON, Texas – Haynes and Boone L.L.P. is hosting the November Meeting of the Dallas Forum for BioMedical Technology featuring Rob Newman, VP North Americas, InSightec, Inc., on Wednesday, November 5, 2003.

The forum will run from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at the Haynes and Boone Richardson Telecom Corridor® office, 2505 N. Plano Road (northwest corner of Lookout Drive and N. Plano Road).  Registration and continental breakfast starts at 7:00 a.m. and the program begins at 7:30 a.m.

Mr. Newman will address the decision making process involved in taking a corporate technology development project out to a start-up in ”From Product Developer to Intrapreneur to Entrepreneur.”  Connie L. Luthy, Ph.D., MBA, product architect of Medical Product Innovation and founder of the DFBT, will serve as moderator.

InSightec's (www.insightec.com) goal is to become the market leader in the field of totally non-invasive surgery through the combination of Focused Ultrasound Surgery (FUS) and real-time image based treatment planning and control.  Their first product ExAblate™ 2000 is now on the market in Europe for the treatment of uterine fibroids.  Earlier this month the European Information Society Technology awarded InSightec the 2004 IST Grand Prize. The company, controlled by Elbit Medical Imaging (54 percent) and GE Medical Systems (19.5 percent), won the award, which includes 200,000 euros and the IST prize trophy, for ExAblate™ 2000, a noninvasive thermal ablation system.
