Haynes and Boone Attorney Receives Franchise Group’s Distinguished Service Award

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Haynes and Boone, LLP, an international corporate law firm, announced Wednesday Carl Zwisler, who serves as Of Counsel in the firm’s Franchise and Distribution Practice Group, received the International Franchise Association’s 2005 Supplier Forum Distinguished Service Award, the first lawyer recipient of the award.

Zwisler received the award during the IFA’s sixth annual Franchise Appreciation Day activities, an annual grassroots gathering that features visits to Capitol Hill offices, briefings by regulators and keynote addresses by Washington insiders.

Before entering private practice in 1983, Zwisler served as general counsel for the IFA, and since has chaired the IFA Supplier Forum and served on the group’s board of directors. He also served as an advisor to the U.S. State Department on the UNIDROIT Model National Franchise Law project.

Zwisler moderates the online IFA GoGlobal Community Forum and created the group’s Internet-based course “Franchising Basics.”  In 1999, he authored the book Master Franchising: Selecting, Negotiating and Operating a Master Franchise.
