DALLAS – Haynes and Boone LLP, an international corporate law firm, has named eight attorneys in four offices as partners effective this year.

Four are based in Dallas, two in Richardson, and one each in San Antonio and Houston. Their specialties represent the wide array of services provided Haynes and Boone clients worldwide.

“We are proud of this diverse class of new partners and look forward to their full participation in developing our growing, dynamic law firm,” said Robert Wilson, managing partner. “The caliber of these new additions is truly impressive.”

In Dallas, the following lawyers were designated:

  • R. Thaddeus Behrens – A securities litigation specialist, Mr. Behrens has represented corporations, directors and officers in shareholder derivative cases, securities fraud class actions, SEC investigations and internal investigations.  He arrived at Haynes and Boone in November 2000 after practicing with Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, LLP in California.

  • Erika L. Blomquist – In her specialty of insurance litigation, Ms. Blomquist analyzes coverage and litigates related issues for corporations and individuals. Since joining the firm in 1997, she has also prosecuted claims of fraud, breach of contract and Texas Insurance Code violations in complex litigation and arbitration.

  • Scott W. Everett – For the last seven years with Haynes and Boone, Mr. Everett has focused his practice on bankruptcy and reorganization, representing debtors, creditors and trustees in all types of bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings. In addition, he advises international and foreign corporations concerning the forms of bankruptcy relief available in the United States.

  • James L. Waters --  Mr. Waters represents financial institutions and borrowers in structuring, negotiating and documenting domestic and international transactions and corporate restructurings. Mr. Waters came to Haynes and Boone five years ago from a major New York law firm, and also has business experience with the loan division of a large financial institution.

In Richardson:

  • Jason Villalba – A specialist in public and private securities law, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate law, Mr. Villalba has wide experience representing both investors and corporations. Since arriving at the firm in 2001, he also has counseled start-up companies in drafting and implementing business plans and negotiating venture financing.

  • Walter D. Miller – In his eight years with the firm, Mr. Miller has handled complex real estate transactions, centering on acquisitions, dispositions, leasing and development.  He is one of the primary real estate attorneys involved in the 75-acre Victory Park, a high-density, vertical project with retail, residential, hotel, entertainment and office uses near downtown Dallas.

In Houston, the firm welcomes environmental law specialist Stan Perry to partner status. Mr. Perry is a trial attorney who has defended petrochemical companies in toxic tort and chemical exposure lawsuits in Texas. He has helped industrial hygienists, hematologists, oncologists, epidemiologists and toxicologists refute claims of chemical exposure.

And in San Antonio, Laura E. O’Donnell is the newest partner. She is a member of the firm’s Labor and Employment practice group who has defended employers against employment lawsuits in federal and state courts, arbitration and agency proceedings. Since joining Haynes and Boone in 1996, Ms. O’Donnell has advised and counseled management on workplace employment issues and drafted employment-related agreements.
