Haynes and Boone, LLP Completes Complex Structured Financing for Brazilian Mining Company MMX

DALLAS Haynes and Boone, LLP announced today that its Latin American practice group has successfully completed the negotiation and financing of an integrated iron-ore mining and infrastructure logistics project for MMX Mineracao e Metalicos SA (MMX), a Brazilian company listed on the Sao Paulo and Toronto Exchange. 

The financing consists of a three-tranche facility aggregating US$250MM in bank facilities and R$580,000,000 of financing from the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES.)

The mining system, located in the state of Amapa on the far northern border of Brazil, includes a significant iron ore deposit and a 192 kilometer railway connecting the mine location to an existing port facility and 71 hectares of real estate on the banks of the Amazon River, reserved for a loading terminal.
