Haynes and Boone Announces Class of 2010 Partners

Four attorneys have been named partner at Haynes and Boone, LLP, the firm announced today.

“These new partners are some of the best and brightest legal minds in the corporate world today,” said Terry Conner, Haynes and Boone’s managing partner. “Each has the entrepreneurial spirit and client-centric focus that has served our firm so well. We are very pleased to accept them into our partnership.”

The new partners for 2010 are:

Kendyl Hanks, an appellate litigator in the New York and Dallas offices. With a practice spanning from New York to Texas, from trial to appeal, and from state to federal courts, Ms. Hanks exhibits the diverse skills Haynes and Boone's appellate practice group offers clients and litigation teams. She assists clients through the trial process and provides traditional appellate services such as briefing and oral argument in cases involving business and commercial disputes, bankruptcy adversary proceedings, complex tort cases, real estate litigation, governmental immunity, tax law, fraud, fiduciary duty and fraudulent transfer claims, constitutional law, jurisdiction and other complex substantive and procedural issues of law. Ms. Hanks currently serves on the ABA Board of Governors and House of Delegates and is active in the ABA Young Lawyers Division, the ABA Section of Business Law, and serves on the New York State Bar Association’s Committee on Courts of Appellate Jurisdiction.

Arthur Howard, a Houston-based corporate attorney. Mr. Howard practices in the areas of business transactions, corporate and partnership governance, securities, technology, finance, and mergers and acquisitions. He has served as chief executive officer, president, chief operating officer, and general counsel during his career. He has also served as a member of and advisor to multiple boards of directors in the manufacturing, construction, investment advisory, pension, retail, consulting and financial services industries. Mr. Howard's practice blends this background and diverse experience in business management and law for clients that range from start-up ventures to industry leaders in highly-regulated industries. He also serves as counsel in connection with internal investigations, crisis management, merger integration, management-led business restructurings and turnaround projects.

Ben Mesches, a Dallas appellate litigator. Mr. Mesches handles litigation in federal and state court at both the trial and appellate levels. He is board certified in civil appellate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has wide-ranging litigation experience. He has handled complex business, energy, and intellectual property disputes, bankruptcy appeals, and cases before the Texas Supreme Court, where he served as a law clerk. A leader in local and national appellate bar organizations, Mr. Mesches regularly writes and speaks on appellate practice issues, including bankruptcy appeals, federal appellate procedure, and practice before the Texas Supreme Court.

Eric Williams, a Dallas-based corporate attorney. Mr. Williams has extensive experience in acquisitions, divestitures, securities transactions and other complex business transactions. Specifically, he has significant experience representing both corporate and private equity buyers and sellers in structuring, negotiating, documenting and closing public and private mergers, acquisitions and dispositions, including assisting private equity funds with the purchase, ongoing representation and subsequent sale of portfolio companies. Mr. Williams has a broad range of industry experience including consulting services, distribution, education services, energy, hospitality, manufacturing and distribution, retail, technology, transportation and waste management services. Mr. Williams also has experience representing clients in M&A transactions in the bankruptcy context.
