Haynes and Boone Repeats Strong Showing in Chambers Latin America

11/3/2014

DALLAS / MEXICO CITY – Haynes and Boone, LLP and its Mexican affiliate, Haynes and Boone, SC have once again been recognized in the Chambers Latin America legal directory for leading work in five Latin America and Mexico business law categories.

In the 2015 version for the widely respected publication, the firm was recognized in the categories of (a) Latin America-wide corporate / M&A and (b) energy and natural resources, while the Chambers Mexico-wide ranking included Haynes and Boone for banking and finance, corporate/M&A, energy and natural resources, projects and real estate.

In addition, the guide singled out seven of the firm’s lawyers for individual recognition in the following practice areas: corporate / M&A, international arbitration, banking and finance, capital markets, dispute resolution, energy and natural resources, projects and real estate.

“It is an honor for so many of our attorneys in different offices and practice areas to be recognized by this publication for our role as trusted advisors in the Latin American market,” said Dallas Partner Larry B. Pascal, chair of the firm’s Americas Practice Group. “With Mexico’s ongoing energy reforms and the continued acceleration of economic activity throughout the hemisphere, this is an exciting time to be active in the market. It is a testament, not to good timing, but rather our firm’s long-term approach and commitment to the region.”

Editors noted how the Haynes and Boone corporate/M&A practice’s “special focus in Texas and Mexico is replicated in other countries, such as Brazil,” and highlighted the firm’s strength in energy and private equity.

The firm’s energy and natural resources lawyers were also praised for their talents in handling cross-border transactions.

Individually, Mexico City Partner Ariel Ramos was lauded for his work in projects and energy and natural resources, where he repeated his Band 1 ranking in each category. Clients complimented Ramos as “an extraordinary lawyer who would be our first choice to work with in projects."

Mexico City Of Counsel Cecilia Flores was singled out as an “Up and Comer” in the Mexico Dispute Resolution and Latin America International Arbitration categories, while editors recognized Mexico City Partner Jorge Labastida in the Mexico Banking and Finance and Capital Markets sectors. Clients called his commitment to them as “impressive.”

Houston Partner George Y. Gonzalez and Pascal were honored in the Latin America Corporate M&A category, while the Mexico directory featured Mexico City Partners José Antonio Diez de Bonilla Martinez and Luis F. Moreno in the Real Estate practice.

Independent and objective, Chambers Latin America has been ranking law firms and attorneys based on in-depth interviews conducted with sector peers and firm clients since 1999. Rankings are based on legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial awareness, diligence and commitment to the client.
