HAYNES AND BOONE ATTORNEYS HONORED BY APIS

04/22/2015

Finance attorneys Albert Tan, Monika Singh Sanford and Sakina Rasheed of Haynes and Boone, LLP were recently recognized at the 20th Anniversary celebration of the Asian Pacific Interest Section of the State Bar of Texas.

Each year, APIS honors a selection of members who have substantially impacted their respective fields as well as the broader Asian Pacific American (APA) community.

“We could not be more proud of this recognition because Albert, Sakina and Monika are fantastic examples of professional excellence and service in action,” said Managing Partner Tim Powers. “They passionately exemplify the firm’s desire to serve not only our clients, but our peers and communities.”

Albert Tan, firm partner, member of the board of directors and co-chair of the International Practice Group, was presented with the Justice Wellington Chew Award, the highest honor awarded by APIS every year. This distinction is reserved for a lawyer who has paved the way for the advancement of other Asian Pacific American attorneys and made lasting contributions to the APA legal profession and community. Award recipients demonstrate vision, courage and tenacity in their practice, and are recognized for their outstanding professional achievements and leadership.

Firm Associate Monika Singh Sanford received the APIS Best Lawyers Under 40 Award, which recognizes talented individuals within the APA legal community under the age of 40 who have achieved prominence and distinction in their fields and have demonstrated a strong commitment to civic or community affairs.

Awarded for her commitment to fostering the development of young lawyers, firm Counsel Sakina Rasheed was the recipient of the APIS Outstanding Mentor Award. Honorees are selected based on their service as a role model to young lawyers in the legal community as well as significant contributions to the profession.

“The recognition by APIS of three Haynes and Boone attorneys this year is remarkable,” said Nick Even and Madelyn Calabrese, co-chairs of the firm’s Attorney Diversity & Inclusion Committee. “We congratulate them on their achievements, and thank them for their leadership as skilled attorneys and for their dedication to diversity and inclusion efforts within the firm and the legal profession as a whole.”
