Latinvex Ranks Haynes and Boone Near Top of Rankings in Banking & Finance, Project Finance and Top 50 Law Firm

08/13/2015

Latinvex, publisher of daily news and weekly analysis on Latin America business, has ranked Haynes and Boone, LLP as one of the top 50 law firms doing business in Latin America, and as a top 10 firm in both banking & finance, and in project finance.

Overall, the firm was rated No. 19 in the Latinvex Top 50 Law Firms list, moving up 12 slots from 2014. It is the fourth consecutive year that Haynes and Boone has made the news service’s list. The firm also made a strong showing in the Top 20 Banking & Finance listing, where it is No. 5, and in the Top 10 Project Finance list, where it ranked No. 7.

“Our appearances on these lists reflect how our work in Latin America has intensified over the last year,” said Dallas Partner Larry Pascal, chair of the firm’s Americas Practice Group and co-chair of the International Practice Group. “From the Mexico energy and telecommunications reforms to the growing Latin American aviation sector, we are seeing signs of steady growth and vitality. It is great to be recognized as a vital part of the legal services required to help clients achieve their goals.”

The latest rankings come on the heels of the appearance of three Haynes and Boone partners -- Jorge Labastida, Pascal and Ariel Ramos -- in the Latinvex Top 100 Latin America Lawyers listing of top legal service providers.

At the firm, Labastida and Ramos are members of the firm’s Finance Practice Group. Labastida focuses his practice on asset-backed and structured cross-border finance, project finance and real estate finance; while Ramos primarily focuses on transactions related to the development and financing of infrastructure projects.

Pascal advises clients on Latin American general corporate, M&A, and projects matters, including but not limited to complex multi-jurisdictional matters. He also serves on the board and as an executive officer for World Services Group, one of the largest networks of independent law firms in the world.

Firms honored by Latinvex were ranked on scope and prominence of work, and the number and type of staff allocated to Latin America. The scope of work included arbitration, banking, capital markets, corporate, litigation, M&A and projects. Publicly available information such as external honors and awards were also taken into consideration by the magazine’s editorial staff.

The firm has one of the largest Latin America/Caribbean practices in the country and has been recognized by some of the leading market observers such as Chambers and Latin Lawyer for its work in the region. Haynes and Boone’s Americas Practice Group has about 50 lawyers working in locations including Dallas, Houston, Mexico City, New York and Washington, D.C. Lawyers in the Americas Practice Group are native speakers or fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French and are comfortable working with civil law and international law concepts.

The firm’s legal professionals in the Mexico City office are highly experienced in cross-border and domestic transactions in practice areas including corporate; banking and finance; real estate; energy; hospitality; international and domestic tax matters and planning; litigation and arbitration; project development and finance; and transportation.
