Haynes and Boone Shanghai Assists Chinese Businesses in Developing Overseas Projects

Lawyers in the Shanghai office of Haynes and Boone, LLP recently participated in a pair of successful Dec. 4 events focusing on how to work with U.S. counsel on behalf of Chinese businesses making investments overseas.

In the first, Shanghai Administrative Partner Liza Mark hosted 24 lawyers from 15 firms who are members of the Suzhou Bar Association at the Haynes and Boone firm offices. Mark, a partner in the Capital Markets and Securities Practice Group, answered questions from the attendees and presented a program on how to select projects for Chinese enterprises interested in U.S. and other overseas markets. Mark, has been working with U.S. firms in the United States, Hong Kong and Shanghai for more than 15 years

The second was the Invest in United States Forum & Exhibition in Nanjing organized by the Invest in USA Committee in cooperation with the U.S. Foreign Commercial Service, U.S.-China Business Council, Council of American States in China and AmCham Shanghai, with strong support as well from the local governments on Jiangsu and Nanjing. Haynes and Boone sponsored the event, which was attended by more than 300 participants.

Partner Louis Meng, co-head of the firm’s Asia Practice Group, James Zhang, the associate, and Legal Consultant Miles Pan attended and networked with business people involved in commercial real estate, media, environmental protection technology, financial services and others.

Meng, a veteran of more than 20 years of Greater China legal practice presented the forum with an overview of the firm’s experience supporting Chinese direct foreign investment in the U.S.
