Haynes and Boone CDG Praised in Chambers UK 2017

November 10, 2016

Researchers with the highly respected legal directory Chambers UK have once again given high ratings to the lawyers of Haynes and Boone CDG, LLP for their abilities in advising shipbuilding and offshore energy sector clients.

The 2017 edition of the directory lists Haynes and Boone CDG as one of its recommended law firms in addition to singling out Senior Partner Simon Curtis and London Head of Dispute Resolution, William Cecil, as notable practitioners.

“It is an honor for our lawyers to be included in a prestigious directory like Chambers UK,” said London office Administrative Partner Brad Richards. “As the researchers learned from interviewing our clients, Simon, William and the legal minds assembled across the entire Haynes and Boone CDG operation have established extraordinary reputations. We intend to build upon them to construct a substantial London presence in the years to come.”

As a firm, clients regard the firm as "a small, cohesive team that gives personal attention at all levels," researchers say. Another client is quoted saying, "They know the shipping aspects but also the financing and the insurance too; they have a deep, thorough knowledge."

In describing the capabilities of Curtis, researchers commented that he is a "recognised expert on shipbuilding contracts and other aspects of marine construction" and has "significant experience in matters related to the offshore industry." Sources told Chambers that he is "an expert on shipbuilding and also a very good lawyer."

Cecil, meanwhile, the directory states, "has a wealth of experience advising on arbitration and litigation for shipping and offshore energy clients," with one client remarking that he is "very hard-working and good to work with."

Independent and objective, Chambers UK is carefully researched and widely considered to be the most reputable law firm directory in the world. Its rankings are based on thousands of interviews with leading practitioners and clients from coast to coast. Ranking criteria include technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial astuteness, diligence, commitment and other qualities most valued by legal clients.

In September 2016 U.S.-based Haynes and Boone, LLP and London-based Curtis Davis Garrard joined together, and are known as Haynes and Boone CDG, LLP in London. Founded in 1996, CDG built a significant reputation serving the shipbuilding and offshore oil and gas sectors and Haynes and Boone CDG will continue to serve the same sectors whilst expanding into new areas.

Haynes and Boone CDG's shipping clients comprise shipowners, charterers and shipyards covering the entire spectrum of commercial shipping and including the international superyacht sector. In many cases we are engaged by, and work with, professional advisors, overseas lawyers or other intermediaries to represent their clients.
