Following a long stint working on electric power matters in the public sector, Jennifer Littlefield has joined the Austin office of Haynes and Boone, LLP as a member of the firm’s Energy, Power and Natural Resources Practice Group.

Littlefield worked most recently for the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, Inc. (ERCOT) on projects and issues impacting all segments of the electric industry.

Littlefield previously worked as a lawyer with the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT), where she handled a wide range of regulatory matters, including enforcement of state and federal rules governing the electric industry. She also developed litigation strategies and negotiated settlements as lead counsel in many regulatory disputes and was lead counsel in contested cases involving electric utility wholesale and retail regulations.

“I really look forward to working with Jennifer,” said Haynes and Boone Counsel Patrick Sullivan. “She will assist our clients with regulatory matters, compliance, project financings, and the negotiation of interconnection, power purchase and sale agreements, among other responsibilities.”

“Thanks to her work at the PUCT and ERCOT, Jennifer really understands the regulatory framework for electricity providers in Texas and will be able to provide insightful advice to our clients,” said Partner Diana Liebmann, who heads the firm’s power and renewables team and last year received Texas Lawyer’s Women in Energy award. “Jennifer knows the competitive electric market in which our clients transact, and she will be a significant addition to our growing power practice,” she added.

“When the opportunity arose to work with Diana and Patrick, I couldn’t pass it up,” Littlefield said. “I really love energy work, and I believe that my regulatory expertise will be an asset to our practice and the firm.”

Haynes and Boone’s Energy Practice Group is comprised of more than 100 lawyers and professionals with a depth of practice that includes upstream, midstream and downstream oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids; electric power generation, transmission, tolling agreements, wholesale and retail marketing transactions, and regulatory compliance with state commission, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Independent System Operator, and Regional Transmission Operator requirements.
