Haynes and Boone Cited in Bloomberg BNA for Partner Diversity
Haynes and Boone, LLP is one of a select group of Am Law 100 law firms that promoted more women than men to partner this year, according to a report by Bloomberg BNA Big Law Business.
Seven of the 13 Haynes and Boone lawyers (53%) promoted to the partnership in 2017 are women, the 14th highest such figure among the nation’s largest law firms, Bloomberg found. Only 20 other firms in the Am Law 100 announced a partnership class that had at least 50 percent women.
Haynes and Boone also outperformed the Am Law 100 average — 36.7% of all partner promotions this year at Am Law 100 firms went to women, according to Bloomberg.
“I’m thrilled that our new partners are not only immensely skilled and accomplished, but they also reflect the firm’s longstanding commitment to diversity,” said Managing Partner Tim Powers.
Kit Addleman, who chairs the firm’s Women Attorney Initiatives Committee, said Haynes and Boone recognizes the intrinsic value of diversity. “Diverse legal teams that draw from varied genders, backgrounds, skills, and perspectives are able to explore a broader range of ideas and solutions, which yields real value to clients.”
“Haynes and Boone works very hard to hire and promote a diverse class of lawyers so that we can better serve our clients, who demand that their outside firms reflect the diversity of their business and the broader community,” added Kenya Woodruff, Chair of the firm’s Attorney Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
The firm’s Attorney Diversity and Women Attorney Initiatives Committees, which are composed of partners, associates, counsel and key members of management, set ambitious goals related to the recruitment, retention, promotion and professional development of diverse lawyers. The firm also benefits from several outstanding sub-committees, including those that promote LGBT initiatives, working parent issues, and minority recruiting and retention.
Haynes and Boone was named the most diverse large firm in Texas on The American Lawyer’s 2016 Diversity Scorecard.
