Haynes and Boone Advises Panda Power Funds for Texas Power Plant
A team of Haynes and Boone, LLP attorneys from four offices advised Panda Power Funds on the completion of secured financing to develop a natural gas-fired power plant in Temple, Texas. This generation will be important to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, Inc. (ERCOT) power region in adding much-needed new capacity as a result of rapidly declining reserve margins.
According to the private equity firm’s announcement, the power plant will eventually supply power to 750,000 homes in central and north Texas with commercial operations targeted by 2014.
The Haynes and Boone team included Mary S. Mendoza of the firm’s environmental practice group and Austin administrative partner as lead environmental counsel; San Antonio Partner Diana Liebmann and Houston Partner Jeff Nichols of the firm’s energy and power practice group as lead regulatory and Texas project counsel; and Dallas Partner Janice V. Sharry of the firm’s corporate, mergers and acquisitions practice group, Dallas Partner Sue P. Murphy and New York Partner Gil Porter of the firm’s finance practice group as special finance counsel.
