Nina Cortell Named in Benchmark Litigation’s Inaugural Top 250 Women in Litigation in America
DALLAS – Nina Cortell, Haynes and Boone, LLP appellate partner, has been selected as one of 11 Texans highlighted in the first edition of Benchmark Litigation’s Top 250 Women in Litigation in America.
The guide noted that Cortell is “renowned through the state for her appeals work” and quoted a competitor’s remark that Cortell “is the best appellate lawyer in Texas.”
Those listed in the guide were selected from their respective states’ rosters of local litigation stars in the 2012 edition of peer-reviewed parent publication Benchmark Litigation. Benchmark Litigation is the only publication on the market to focus exclusively on litigation in the U.S. The guide’s results are the culmination of a six-month research period for researchers to conduct extensive interviews with litigators and clients. During these interviews, researchers examined recent casework handled by the firms and asked sources to offer their professional opinions on litigators practicing within their state or national practice areas.
Cortell is a fellow in the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers, a member of the Texas Supreme Court Advisory Committee, and a member of the American Law Institute. She received the 2012 University of Texas at Austin Law School Distinguished Alumnus Award and was named Outstanding Lawyer of the Year by the Dallas Bar Association in 2009.
During the course of her 36-year career at Haynes and Boone, she has represented corporations, individuals, and public entities in appeals that have put her at the forefront of Texas appellate practice.
