South Asian Bar Association of Houston Selects Sameer Saxena for Rising Star Award

Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner Sameer Saxena was recently named as the 2018-2019 “Rising Star” by the South Asian Bar Association of Houston (SABA Houston). Saxena and other award recipients were honored during the annual charity gala hosted by SABA Houston on May 11 at the St. Regis Hotel.

SABA Houston is a local chapter of SABA of North America and is dedicated to the needs, concerns, and interests of lawyers of South Asian heritage by promoting the professional development of the South Asian legal community through networking, advocacy, and mentoring. SABA Houston is also dedicated to ensuring the civil liberties of and the provision of legal services to the South Asian community in Houston by educating the Houston South Asian community about our legal system and encouraging greater participation by the South Asian community in the legal profession and American government.

Saxena, who was promoted to partner in January, practices in the Mergers and Acquisitions, Capital Markets and Securities and Energy Practice Groups in Haynes and Boone’s Houston office. Last month, the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) named him to its 2019 Class of Fellows. The LCLD fellows take part in a yearlong, in-depth program devoted to relationship-building, in-person training, peer-group projects and other activities to develop their legal and leadership skills.

Saxena has a broad multidisciplinary practice that includes experience in securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, general corporate and partnership matters and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting obligations for public companies. He recently worked on the Haynes and Boone team that represented KMG Chemicals, Inc., in its $1.6 billion cash and stock merger with Cabot Microelectronics Corporation – a deal that the Global M&A Network selected for a 2019 M&A Atlas Award for “Global Corporate M&A Deal” of the year in the “mega” deal category.

Saxena received both his bachelor’s degree magna cum laude and his juris doctor cum laude from the University of Houston.
