Texas First Lady Commends Lynne Liberato for Community Service

October 25, 2018

Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner Lynne Liberato received a Certificate of Appreciation from Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott for her ongoing role in disaster recovery on behalf of the United Way of Greater Houston.

Abbott awarded the commendation in connection with the 35th Annual Governor’s Volunteer Awards for Exemplary Community Service.

A member of the United Way of Greater Houston Executive Committee, Liberato has chaired the Hurricane Recovery Task Force four times since Tropical Storm Allison devastated southeast Texas in 2001 and was previously selected by the organization as its “volunteer of the year.” She currently serves as the chair of the Hurricane Harvey Recovery Task Force.

The Governor’s Volunteer Awards, administered by OneStar Foundation, honors the contributions of individuals, businesses and organizations in Texas that have made a positive impact in their communities or across the state through service and volunteering. Through her Texanthropy Initiative, Abbott has made promoting volunteerism and service to others her primary focus as First Lady of Texas.

In another recent recognition, the Women and the Law Section of the State Bar of Texas selected Liberato as the 2018 winner of the prestigious Louise B. Raggio Award, which recognizes an attorney who has actively addressed the needs and issues of women in the legal profession and the community.

A partner in Haynes and Boone’s Appellate Practice, Liberato has led teams in some of the most significant appeals and trials in Texas.
