Technology Assisted Review


Technology assisted review (TAR) is a process for reviewing documents that can greatly reduce a client’s legal costs and fees associated with document review, typically one of the most expensive parts of litigation.  Paving the way for the increased use of TAR, a recent decision by Magistrate Judge Andrew J. Peck of the Southern District of New York opined that it is “black letter law” that a party producing documents may use TAR.  Rio Tinto PLC v. Vale S.A., No. 14 Civ. 3042 (S.D.N.Y. March 2, 2015).
