Carolyn Barnes v. Texas Attorney General, et. al.; Travis County District Court, 419th District Court; 2015

Plaintiff filed a lawsuit against a number of media entities bringing claims for defamation. In the same suit, she also sued approximately 70 other defendants (most of whom were government actors) alleging various constitutional violations and torts related to her prior arrest and incarceration. The media defendants were sued for their reporting on that arrest and the underlying court proceedings and, after filing both an Anti-SLAPP motion and a motion for summary judgment, were successful on both motions.
