Prosecution of breach of contract and fraud claims after buyer fails to close asset sale

We represented an oil and gas company in a lawsuit stemming from a failed $175 million sale of the company's Eagle Ford Shale assets. The buyer assured our client that it had the money to close the transaction. However, when the price of oil dropped precipitously in 2014, these promises proved false and the buyer failed to fund the transaction. We sued the buyer and the buyer's principal for breach of contract and fraud. After defeating the the defendant's Motion for Summary Judgment, we obtained a favorable settlement.
