DALLAS – Haynes and Boone LLP attorneys will take prominent positions at the upcoming International Franchise Expo, June 2-4 in Washington, D.C., providing guidance on critical legal issues involved in franchising and with an emphasis on international master franchise arrangements.

Carl Zwisler, senior counsel in the Washington office of Haynes and Boone, will moderate five seminars on international master franchising issues during the three-day International Franchise Association conference, as well as a larger symposium on June 3 dealing with Selecting, Negotiating and Operating a Master Franchise.  Master franchising is the format used by 80 percent of U.S. franchisors when expanding internationally.

Mr. Zwisler, who has led the three-day international master franchise symposia at the Expo since 1992, is also the author of the book “Master Franchising: Selecting, Negotiating and Operating a Master Franchise”.

Among the other speakers at the International Franchise Expo will be Haynes and Boone partners Jan Gilbert, Cindy Kang and Hal Sanders and associate Robert Lauer.

Mr. Gilbert will lead a seminar on June 2 on Earnings Claims regulations, which are designed to provide prospective franchisees with full and accurate information about the franchises they are considering, but which may unwittingly deprive them of some of the most material information.  He will also join Zwisler for the longer June 3 symposium.

Ms. Kang will speak to franchisors and franchisees on immigration issues surrounding the franchise arena on the afternoon of June 3.

Mr. Sanders will join the panel of the seminar “How to Enforce Franchise Agreements and Resolve Disputes in International Franchise Relationships” on June 2.  Mr. Lauer will join the panel of “Analyzing the Master Franchise,” also on June 2.

The International Franchise Expo features three education tracks for attendees:  Buying a Franchise, Franchising Your Business and Acquiring a Master Franchise.  Haynes and Boone will sponsor the Master Franchise track.

An annual event now in its 15th year, the International Franchise Expo showcases hundreds of franchise concepts.  The expo, sponsored by the International Franchise Association, is endorsed by the U.S. Department of Commerce and promoted world wide as part of their International Buyers Program.

The 15th Annual International Franchise Expo will be held June 2 through June 4 in the Washington Convention Center,  801 Mount Vernon Place, NW, Washington, D.C.
