Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft LLP, Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP and Haynes and Boone, LLP have been hired by the U.S. Treasury Department to advise the U.S. government on plans to restructure and finance the nation’s auto industry, according to notices dated March 30 and posted today on a government Web site. The Treasury seeks legal advice on loans and investments it is making in car manufacturers and suppliers, according to the notices.

“We’re going to be providing advice and doing work in connection with potential restructurings and bankruptcies for participants in the auto industry,” Stephen Pezanosky, chairman of the bankruptcy practice at Dallas-based Haynes and Boone, said in an interview. “We’re excited about doing the work.”
