Haynes and Boone Lawyers Highlighted in Houston Bar Bulletin for Community, Citizenship Efforts

February 04, 2021
Haynes and Boone, LLP Senior Counsel Lynne Liberato and Partner Polly Fohn were highlighted in the Houston Bar Bulletin this month for their community, citizenship and pro bono work.

Haynes and Boone was listed among other law firms as an Equal Access Champion for assuming a leadership role in providing equal access to justice for all Harris County citizens. The firm made a commitment to provide representation in a certain number of cases through the Houston Volunteer Lawyers (HVL).

The Bulletin also named Haynes and Boone to the Houston Bar Association (HBA) 100 Club, which is a special category of membership attained by enrolling 100 percent of their attorneys as members of the HBA.

Here is an excerpt from the Bulletin:

HBA Implicit Bias Training Program for Attorneys

During 2020, the HBA formed a task force to develop an educational training program to study and address implicit bias in the legal profession and the justice system. …. A critical element in determining the pricing for the program is the level of support from the leaders in our community who are committed to promoting diversity, equality and inclusion within the Houston Bar. Haynes and Boone, LLP has already made a trailblazing grant of $10,000 to support the work of the HBA/Houston Bar Foundation (HBF) on justice reform.

Gender Fairness Committee Presents Spring Events

The HBA Gender Fairness Committee will hold its annual Spring Mentoring event on Wednesday, Feb. 24, as a virtual event from 4 to 6 p.m. This event provides women HBA members licensed five years or less the opportunity to meet experienced attorneys and members of the judiciary, gaining insight into their career development. On April 13, the committee will present “The Past, Present and Future of Women in the Law,” featuring past presidents of the HBA – Lynne Liberato, Amy Dunn Taylor, Denise Scofield and Laura Gibson.

The Houston Bar Foundation 2021 Fellows Nominating Committee is now hard at work, co-chaired by Polly Fohn of Haynes and Boone, LLP …. The primary beneficiary of the Foundation is Houston Volunteer Lawyers, the pro bono program of the Houston Bar Association.
