“New partners have to rethink their role in the firm. For years, they have been watching what goes on and now they have to be leaders. They need to set a good example for others and remember that this is now their firm. They are now owners. They are responsible for helping move the younger generations forward and ensuring that the firm is presented positively in the business community; they must own client relationships and be prepared to do whatever is necessary to grow the firm. To some, it comes naturally. To others, it requires significant reprogramming.”
