Jason Habinsky in HR Magazine: HR Should Take the Lead on Cybersecurity

HR is the “natural choice to train other segments of the workforce” and should “team up with IT to provide joint training...”

For example, the entire workforce needs to know what a security incident is. If a laptop is left on a plane on a Friday evening, the employee should not wait until Monday to inform the company about the security incident...

Think about document retention, recommended Jason Habinsky, an attorney with Haynes and Boone, LLP in New York City. “Review the industry standard,” he said. “You don’t want years and years of information,” which can increase an employer’s level of risk if its system gets hacked into.
