Jeff Dorrill Receives Recognition for Exceptional Athletic Accomplishments

Haynes and Boone encourages lawyers and staff to pursue outside passions and live full lives away from the office, as it can only result in more productive work. Firm Partner Jeff Dorrill is a fantastic example of this work-life balance, and has recently been recognized for some of his amazing accomplishments as an endurance athlete – a passion he feels makes him a more effective lawyer.

Dorrill has competed in more than 400 endurance races, including four Ironman triathlons and three Boston Marathons. He recently won his age division in the CapTex Triathlon in Austin, the premier triathlon in Texas, and placed in the top 50 of more than 3,000 entrants.

Texas Lawbook featured a lengthy profile detailing how Dorrill balances the high demands of his career with his intense training and competition schedule:

“I’ve been much more successful at endurance racing because Haynes and Boone and its attorneys and staff have been extremely flexible in allowing me to balance my work and training needs,” Dorrill said.

In fact, he and managing partner Tim Powers, an avid runner, have participated in several of the same half marathons.

Still, Powers expressed “awe” at Dorrill’s accomplishments, both professionally and as an Ironman.

“It takes an incredibly high level of discipline and dedication to be able to achieve the level of success that Jeff has enjoyed,” Powers said. “Jeff is one of a host of examples in our firm where attorneys and staff work together to balance work and their passions. We think we have happier and more fulfilled and productive professionals because of it.”
