Haynes and Boone's HR Roundtable - Employees in California' Strategies for the Texas Employer Trouble-Shooting California's Unique Workplace Laws - Dallas

August 13, 2013

Haynes and Boone, LLP presented this seminar spotlighting strategies for trouble-shooting California's unique workplace laws. Most companies with California operations recognize that the Golden State has some unique employment laws that look nothing like the workplace laws in Texas. However, many out-of-state employers don't realize that most of California's employment laws apply to employers with just five employees. To top it off, a recent surge in new legislation and case law developments make it tougher than ever to keep up with the changes, much less implement compliance strategies.

This HR Roundtable will provide Texas-based employers with a checklist for spotting the key differences between Texas and California when it comes to employment law, as well as provide guidance for trouble-shooting California's unique workplace laws. Discussion points include:

  • lesser-known wage and hour traps
  • expanded discrimination and accommodation laws
  • enforcing Texas arbitration agreements in California
