Rolando González is an experienced patent attorney who strives to deliver high quality results to clients by providing quality patent counsel with close attention to detail and by understanding clients’ business interests and needs. Clients value Rolando’s deep technical understanding and engineering background along with his prior in-house legal experience to formulate sound strategies aligned with their specific intellectual property issues.

Rolando's practice focuses on patent procurement, patent diligence, and patent litigation support across a wide array of technologies. Rolando counsels clients in the fields of wireless communications, artificial intelligence, automotive radar, millimeter wave radio frequency, antenna technologies, digital and analog circuits, semiconductor circuits and fabrication, electronic commerce systems, and software applications.

Rolando has extensive experience in the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications, patent portfolio analyses and management, patent due diligence, and freedom-to-operate analyses. He has significant experience in developing, strengthening, and managing his clients’ patent portfolios to maximize their commercial value. Rolando’s clients include emerging and multinational Fortune 500 companies.

Rolando has experience performing IP due diligence reviews for venture capital investments and mergers and acquisitions, as well as representing clients undergoing diligence review. He also has experience working with clients on technology transaction matters, including counseling clients on licenses, and collaborations for development and commercialization.

Rolando also works closely with patent litigators to formulate strategies for infringement contentions, validity/invalidity contentions, and claim construction positions. He also actively supports the patent litigators in pre-litigation diligence matters to vet the strength of patents and patent portfolios.

Prior to joining Haynes and Boone, Rolando was an in-house patent counsel at a VC-backed technology startup company developing technologies for advancing autonomous driving. Rolando was responsible for procuring and managing the company’s patent portfolio and counseling the company’s stakeholders with respect to legal and business issues.

Rolando received his J.D. from Southwestern Law School. He was also president of the Intellectual Property Law Society at Southwestern Law School. During law school, Rolando worked as a patent agent for a boutique intellectual property law firm.

Prior to attending law school, Rolando worked at a large aerospace defense contractor in the design and verification of digital design circuits for military SATCOM systems. Rolando received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California at Irvine, and his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California.
