Rahul Kumar is an associate in the Litigation Practice Group in the London office of Haynes and Boone. His practice focuses on litigation and arbitration in the shipping, offshore oil and gas, and energy sectors.

Rahul has experience of a broad range of contentious work, including general commercial, product liability, and financial institutions disputes. In addition, he has acted for clients in both commercial and investment treaty arbitrations.

Prior to joining Haynes and Boone, Rahul trained at a Magic Circle law firm in London. During his training contract Rahul spent time in the firm’s disputes, aviation finance, corporate transactions, and real estate teams. 

Rahul also acts for clients on a pro bono basis. He has advised the Human Dignity Trust and has represented a victim of domestic servitude in enforcing an Employment Tribunal award. Rahul also undertook a pro bono secondment to Oxfam’s legal team where he advised on a wide range of commercial and legal issues.

  • Acted for a Ukrainian businessman in a high-profile dispute concerning the ownership of an iron ore plant.
  • Acted for a major mining company in its bilateral investment treaty arbitration against the Government of Venezuela concerning the expropriation of certain mining and processing assets.
